Born in Portugal in 1973, Pedro Paixão joined Moonspell in 1993, just in time to record the band's landmark EP Under the Moonspell. Having spent part of his youth in Germany, Pedro returned to Portugal carrying a musical vocabulary that would profoundly influence Moonspell's future. His introduction of gothic rock, darkwave and post-punk artists such as Fields of the Nephilim, The Sisters of Mercy, The Cure and Dead Can Dance helped broaden the band's horizons, becoming one of the driving forces behind the unmistakable sound that would emerge on Wolfheart and define Moonspell's artistic identity for decades to come.

As keyboard player, programmer, arranger and songwriter, Pedro has remained one of Moonspell's principal creative architects ever since. His ability to merge orchestral textures, electronic atmospheres, traditional instrumentation and cinematic soundscapes with heavy guitars has become one of the band's defining signatures. Beyond performing keyboards and programming, he has contributed extensively to songwriting, arrangements, choirs and studio production throughout Moonspell's career, helping shape every album from Under the Moonspell (1994) to Far From God (2026).

Outside Moonspell, Pedro has continually explored different musical paths. He was a founding member of Dæmonarch, Moonspell's acclaimed black metal side project, performing keyboards and programming on the cult album Hermeticum (1998). In 2009 he formed Orfeu Rebelde, a Portuguese-language project where he stepped away from keyboards to play guitar, composing music inspired by Portuguese poetry and alternative rock while also producing and mixing the band's debut EP Cada Som como um Grito.

Alongside his work as a musician, Pedro has built an impressive reputation as a producer, recording engineer, mixer and sound designer. His meticulous approach to sound has made him a sought-after collaborator within the Portuguese metal scene and beyond.

His production credits include the legendary Czech black metal pioneers Root on their album Black Seal, the Portuguese extreme metal band Okkultist on their debut Reinventing Evil and later recordings, Orfeu Rebelde's complete recorded output, as well as engineering work for heavy metal veterans Ironsword. Whether behind the mixing desk or composing in the studio, Pedro approaches every project with the same attention to atmosphere, detail and sonic identity that has become synonymous with his work inside Moonspell.

Despite being the quietest member of Moonspell, Pedro's influence on the band's musical evolution has been immeasurable. His openness to different genres, his instinct for melody and texture, and his technical expertise have continually pushed Moonspell beyond the traditional boundaries of metal without ever losing sight of the band's roots. He remains one of its principal composers and arrangers, balancing experimentation with a deep understanding of what makes Moonspell unique.
